Abstract

Cultural landscapes are transformed and preserved as a result of investments in services and facilities for cultural tourism. Economic and cultural aspects are very closely entwined in modern times. The reason for this is the increasing interdependence of worldwide consumer tastes as a consequence of globalization and the internet boom. In this study, the effects of economic interventions in cultural tourism on the cultural areas of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Bejing, China, are examined. A primary survey was conducted to examine the hypothesis with 900 participants in each of the countries with respective cultural sight, and logistic regression was employed. It caters to the perspective of the residents about recent investments in the cultural sight of respective cities. In China and Malaysia, investments in artistic environments and community participation have had inconsistent outcomes. The findings are unclear in Malaysia, but they confirm the benefits of investing in China.
