The Old Cybory's Chioce- Analysis on aging and technology from Ghost in the Shell
Abstract
Abstract: In this study, Ghost in the Shell is used to analyze the intersection of two important topics in modern humanities and social sciences, “Cyborg” and “aging”, and to explore whether the Cyborg can bring the possibility of overcoming physical aging and ageism discourse for the elderly in a way that goes beyond the biological discourse of gender, as Harroway argued. In this paper, science fiction works are used as a reflection and reconstruction of reality, to comprehensively and deeply show the problems related to aging and science and technology, and to analyze the relationship between them. It can be seen that modern science and technology and global capital have intervened in aging to provide new opportunities for the Cyborg elderly, but they still cannot go beyond the traditional perception of aging in industrial capitalism. This paper discusses the realistic problems of aging in the era of globalization, and puts forward the expectation of the new development concept led by the state and the market.
